Nazarene Theological College (NTC) has recently launched two new Master of Arts (MA) programmes in Wesley Studies and Urban Mission, as well as a PhD for Practitioners. These courses are supported by NTC’s strong Faculty team in the field of Wesley Studies, Mission Studies, and Practical Theology. Join a series of ‘Conversations’ focusing on how the Church engages with three contemporary issues: Mental Health; Special Educational Needs; and Multiculturalism. Two NTC faculty members (Deirdre Brower Latz and Dwight Swanson) will be in conversation with specialists in these subject areas – and with those who come to be part of the evenings. The conversations will also be‘webcast', to make these available to those too far from Manchester to attend in person. The first three sessions on the Church and Mental Health (Jan 29, Feb 5 & 12) have Ron Finlay of Pro Tem Counseling as conversation partner. The second set of conversations, on Special Educational Needs (Feb 19; Mar 5 & 12) welcome Francine Brower (Consultant on Autistic Spectrum Disorders). The third conversation, on Multiculturalism (Mar 19, 26, & Apr 2) is with Ezekiel Shibemba (All Nations Church) as the guest specialist. New MA Stream in Urban Mission Approved by University

A new MA track in Urban Mission will be launched in September 2013 after being approved by The University of Manchester this month. NTC has offered an MA in Mission Studies since the 1990's, and this new track builds on the College's experience in working and ministering in urban contexts. The degree develops understanding in reading the city, its culture, its nature and its needs. Drawing on key resources, the course will explore and critically consider the multifaceted nature of cities, and evaluate a range of ministry and mission approaches and practices. Delivered as a part-time degree, the degree will make use of specialist-practitioners from within and beyond the UK. read more »
